Poem: My Mother
Life Without You
Oh, great mother
You are the one who gifted me with life.
You are the one who brought me into this world.
You are the first precious thing that I saw when I opened my eyes.
You taught me what was right and wrong.
You send me to school, towards the light of knowledge.
In the darkness of the gloomy night,
I looked upon you as a shiny star.
When all around me was fear of unknown,
You were always there with your warm hug.
In the mighty ocean of life,
When the waves threatened to drown me,
You were the only support I held onto.
In the heavy showers when I was alone,
You were there to encourage me.
Even now, I feel the touch of your hand,
That soothes away my pain and agony.
In the face of fresh dreads,
I see your face smiling calmly,
Spreading the fragrance of love around,
Soothing all those you know.
You are like the first ray of light,
After hours of gloom.
I treasure the relationship we share
And look for the same sparkle of yours in the darkest of the night.
Now I'm big, responsible enough.
But can't do anything without you.
Oh, great one.
Lead me through the troubles of this world,
I can't think of a life without you!
